A Peter Pitsch Project:

From his beginnings as an author and illustrator to an acting career in Italy and finally establishing an art gallery, Peter Pitsch has led an unusual life. His journey took him through various cities, including Berlin, Amsterdam, Rome, and Copenhagen, before settling in southern Denmark. Here, Peter works as an artist, poet and songwriter. In 2017, he opened his own art gallery in Nykøbing's Latin Quarter, presenting his paintings and photographic works. Peter is creating music that blends his poetic roots with contemporary artistic methods. His songs are born from his extensive back catalogue of poems, exploring themes of life, madness, loss, and changes. Compositions that are atmospheric, experimental, and often laced with narrative depth. The stage name refers not only to demons of the past (or the various experiences, adventures, thoughts), but also to the method itself. By using technology to "evoke" voices and music from text, he creates a kind of modern, digital exorcism of his own poems. It's a fascinating example of how technology and classical poetry can merge into something completely new and intense.

"I began writing poetry and literary texts at the age of 17 and have since published books exploring themes of madness hidden in everyday normality. While book sales have remained modest, I quickly established myself as a visual artist and, in 2017, opened an art gallery in Southern Denmark to present my paintings and photographic works. Still, poetry remained the pulse beneath it all. Early 2025 I began experimenting with sound until experiences and adventures resonated in atmospheric songs. The poetic texts serve not merely as accompaniment but as conceptual anchors, shaping the emotional tone and narrative of my work. In addition to the music, the project includes cover design and video production. I am co-owner of the independent company DiGiDi. The stage name, "Exorcising my Ghosts," is derived from the title of my latest book, a kaleidoscope of my best poetry."

To bridge poetry and music effectively, Peter isolates the key metaphors, images, and phrases that carry the poem's emotional weight. These anchor points often become musical motifs, recurring throughout the composition as hooks or refrains, thereby giving structure and melodic coherence. He experiments with combining traditional poetry forms with free verse, or merging modern musical elements with classical structures, and he blends disparate cultural traditions or rhythmic patterns to explore innovative hybrid forms. Peter often presents his poetry-musical hybrids in gallery settings, where visual art, sound, and textual elements interact. This approach parallels his work in visual art, where he explores how imagery evokes associations and complements narrative structures, forming coherent "story-worlds" across different media. The combination of poetry and music conveys deep psychological dimensions. The synthesis is presented as a holistic experience, where reading, listening, and perceiving converge, resembling a form of "living poetry" where auditory and textual modalities are inseparable.
